Print Re-Design

Process: I was presented with the challenge of having to create a print on top of an already printed fabric in order to make it one of a kind and cohesive with the rest of the collection. The textured stripes were originally created with a block print design I hand carved, printed on paper and then manipulated into a repeat stripe. I later screen printed the yardage before taking it to production. 

International Woolmark Prize USA

Thaddeus O'Neil was nominated as one of the top 10 fashion designers to compete for the 2015/16 International Woolmark Prize USA. I helped to create his vision come to life.  

Process:  I hand dyed all of the loose wool roving in an indigo bath. I then blended the different shaded of blue and wet felted large sections to finally appliqué the wet felted pieces by needle felting. I worked on the jacket, hat, and the waves. 

Textile Design

Process: This print was inspired by my pet tortoise. I sketched her shell in my sketchbook and created a stamp of my favorite sketch- by carving a linoleum printing block. I then inked and stamped onto a sheet of paper, scanned the print into the computer and manipulated the image using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create the print unit. Finally I created a silkscreen of the unit and manually screen printed 3 yards of each colorway.

Process: The flowers were drawn by hand and inspired after watching the movie Volver by Pedro Almodovar. I scanned the drawings into the computer where I then used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to manipulate them and create a 3 flower unit. From that unit I created the repeat patterns.

Process: I was inspired by the iron fences I see everyday in Savannah, Georgia. I sketched some of the fences I liked the most and then scanned the sketches into the computer. From there I designed the original unit which includes 2 primaries and then created the repeat pattern.

Process: I created a stamp by carving the heart shapes and patterns into a linoleum printing block. I inked the stamp onto my sketchbook and then scanned the file to manipulate it digitally. I created a 2 row unit and used that to create the repeat pattern.

Process: These prints were inspired by microscopic plant cells. I hand drew the cell shapes with India ink on paper, scanned the drawings into the computer and manipulated the images using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I created 2 separate silkscreens with the final images and screen printed the fabrics. I hand cut and sewed all units of the patio set- Cushions, umbrellas, cornhole bags, hammocks, and decorative pillows. 

Textile Design

Process: This print was inspired by my findings when researching cell organisms. I am attracted to the organic shapes and colors the cells naturally posses. The background "splatter" design was created by dropping India ink freely onto a clear acetate sheet and blowing through a straw to create a controlled splatter look. The cell organism unit was also created by freehand drawing onto a sheet of acetate with India ink. I created a silkscreen using both sheets of acetate and hand screen printed the image onto 3 yards of fabric.

Repeat Pattern

Process: I carved the repeats onto the bottom of the skateboard decks using a hand wood burning tool.

Fiber Process

Process: These clip-on bowties were created by hand using an ancient basketry weaving technique called coiling. They are created by wrapping the core jute rope with yarn building up the sculpture connecting each row by making a stitch once every inch to the previous row.
